FactoidScoring music for film is a term that comes from the practice of creating 'streamers' which were cues for the conductor to hit edit or action points in films. A ruler was used to 'score' a scratch down 48 frames (2 seconds on film) which would create a line leading to the hit-point. The hit point often had a hole punched in it to create a flash at the critical moment. This also made the work copy of the film known as the 'gash' print
