FactoidAccording to legend, the Mile High Club was founded in 1916 by pilot, Lawrence Sperry, and New York socialite, Mrs Waldo Polk. Unfortunately for Sperry, autopilot had not yet been invented and amidst all the excitement he lost control of his joystick and the plane in which the pair were cavorting crashed over water. Luckily, two duck hunters winessed the accident and managed to rescue the naked couple.
